Dan Kreigh: IFO Designer, Technical & Customer Support
Dan has built and has enjoyed flying R/C models all his life. Dan's first R/C plane was a Carl Goldberg Falcon 56. Up until a few years ago Dan's R/C flying time was split between gas aerobatic sport models and slope soaring gliders. The IFO was originally created from a personal desire to fly R/C aerobatics in the hangar where Dan works. Being able to fly in the hangar meant any-time-R/C-flying undisturbed by rain, darkness, or high wind. There was no initial intent for marketing the IFO design but due to popular demand, the first IFO kits were sold in 1998.
Dan is an aeronautical and mechanical engineer. He has been working as a structural analyst for over nineteen years at Scaled Composites. Dan is also a UAV pilot flying such notable aircraft as the FREEWING TILT - BODY SCORPION (featured in Air & Space Smithsonian magazine 01/95) and NASA's "RAPTOR" (featured in Model Airplane News 11/95) - a 67 ft. wingspan optionally manned airplane. Dan also has successfully built and flown a 20 ft. wingspan 1/5 scale R/C model of NASA's proposed high altitude UAV called the "ALLIANCE". Recently Dan built and flown a few more interesting models: the SSTOL Model , a SpaceShipOne Model (NEW! Be sure to check out the SpaceShipOne Model in Flight!) and a 10 ft. wingspan "engineering R/C model" for the recent Flight of the Phoenix movie starring Dennis Quaid.
Dan's aviation interest extends to full size man carrying aircraft as well. Dan owns and flies a Long EZ homebuilt aircraft. Other interests include design and future construction of a two place, 200mph, single garage sized, Roadable Aircraft.
